About us

Ceri_About Us
Approaching my fiftieth birthday, I could not help but notice all the negative media coverage about women of this age. Surrounded by vibrant, interesting female friends I could only think that the depiction of a woman of 50+ as past their view by date with little to offer as some sort of April Fools ploy.

It had never occurred to me that that we were expected to become invisible. The more I picked up newspapers and magazines running similar articles, the more determined I became to fight back. Where were the positive stories?  Why weren’t   health and family and relationship issues relating to our age group being covered constructively? Why weren’t the style pages of the weekend supplements acknowledging that we had as many diverse shapes, sizes and occasions to dress for as our younger counterparts? Why shouldn’t we be encouraged to discover new interests, make new friends, pursue careers?

In short, why shouldn’t we be fabulous even after fifty?!

From these early thoughts and conversations with family and close friends, the concept of ‘fabafterfifty’ was born. I was encouraged to ‘go for it’. Approaches to our expert panel were met so positively that very soon the website started to take shape.

Our philosophy is simple, to create a community where likeminded women can come together to learn, share and inspire in order that we can all benefit from our collective experience to navigate our way through the coming decades.  The larger our circle, the more we can all benefit.
Let’s redefine the rules. Here’s to the next fifty! The Best Half of our lives.....!
